This Theatre opened in 1879, a few years after The Clarence. Its usage over the years have changed from being a music venue to a theatre and it now operates as both. The Olympia has access located behind The Clarence, so it is only a short stroll.
In recent years some well known contemporary artists have performed in the Olympia Theatre including:
INIX, The Waterboys, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Johnny Cash, The Dubliners, Paddy Casey, Arcarde Fire, Ryan Adams, Kraftwerk, Aslan, The Black Crowes, Lou Reed, The Frames, Happy Mondays, The Strokes, Ocean Colour Scene, Ian Brown, Paul Weller, Sonic Youth, Morrissey and REM’s 2007 five-night "live rehearsal" to showcase new material.
